Family: Niece of King Theoden, Sister of Eomer, her parents Theodwyn and Eomund died when she was only 7 years old.

Personality: She's a kind person, but hides her feelings to nearly everyone, she doesn't like people to know of her feelings or her thoughts. This is why most people think of her as strong and fearless woman, though in reality this just is a mask. She is respected by the Rohirrim as the 'White Lady of Rohan'.

Background: Eowyn was born in the year 2995 T.A. as second child to Theodwyn, the sister of King Theoden, and Eomund, the chief marshall of the mark. When she was only 7 years old, Eomund was slain by orcs in a battle and brought home dead. Soon after this event, Theodwyn died because of an illness, others say out of broken heart. Her uncle Theoden brought her and her brother Eomer to Meduseld to live with him and his son Theodred, Theoden became like a father to her.
Eowyn grew to be a tall and beautiful woman. She had long blonde hair and grey eyes. Eowyn learned to ride a horse and wield a sword. She was well loved by the people of Rohan for she was strong and fearless, and she had a pride and grace that she inherited from her grandmother, Morwen of Lossarnach.
In 3014, Theoden became ill. He appeared to age prematurely and his judgment became clouded. Unknown to the people of Rohan, Theoden's counsellor Grima was an agent of the Wizard Saruman, who wanted to weaken Rohan. Grima may have poisoned the King so he became weak. Grima desired Eowyn and he watched her and followed her, this was easy, now that Eomer and Theodred were often away fighting, and Theoden became an onld man. She may even have been promised to Grima by Saruman as a reward for his service.
For five years Eowsn watched and cared for her beloved uncle while he became more frail and she felt helpless and useless. Eowyn's concern for Theoden was mingled with frustration at being forced to remain home while Eomer and Theodred defended Rohan's borders against growing threats. Eowyn's demeanor became increasingly cold and remote, as if she were a beautiful flower that was touched by frost.
Theodred was slain at the First Battle of the Fords of Isen on February 25, 3019. It was later learned that Saruman had initiated the battle for the purpose of killing the King's only son and heir. This made Eowyn even fall into more despair, as she loved her cousin as a brother, and she shut down her sould completely for most persons.
